Gatherings and Reunion Groups

Hello Emmaus community, my name is Michael Wood. I’m newly elected to the NET Emmaus board with the responsibility of gatherings and reunion groups. As some of you may have heard, we learned some interesting things at our Jan. 21st. training. One item was that we need to be doing a separate follow-up meeting after a pilgrim’s walk and prior to the gathering, so the sponsor and community can go over info and make the person aware of the importance of re-union groups and get them plugged in ASAP. This can be a separate day or it could be earlier on same day as the gathering, maybe 6-6:30 and then start the gathering. It is important that the sponsor stay in support of the pilgrim/person beginning their fourth day. We can’t ask them to be accountable unless we are. It was also mentioned that we might want to change up the gathering, with themes, games, decorations. Many people don’t come to pot-luck because they don’t have time to cook, so maybe a reunion group or two can provide food and entertainment and someone to speak. The NET Emmaus Board of Directors has re-written the Statement on Sexual Harassment for NET Emmaus. All NET Emmaus community members are requested to read the statement. Team members and Clergy will be asked to indicate they have read the statement when applying to work on future Walks.

There have been changes to the model of the Walk, so click here to view information on the new model.

Schedule of Events during a Walk:

Thursday - Pilgrims arrive between 6:15 and 6:45pm. Send-off is at 7:30pm
Saturday - Candlelight begins at 8:00pm.
Sunday - Closing begins at 4:30pm.
